The design of Unica is the result of a collaborative effort between physicists, engineers, and surgeons. The team aimed to create a surgical light that would eliminate all forms of direct and indirect glare, thereby improving visibility in the surgical field. This innovative approach to surgical lighting was inspired by the need for visual relaxation, reduced fatigue, and increased alertness among medical staff during surgical procedures.

Unica stands out for its unique properties. It is designed to meet the specific needs of surgery, providing glare-free light that reduces fatigue and enhances alertness. Its simple and elegant lines seamlessly blend into the sterile surgical environment, eliminating any potential distractions. The light is equipped with a sterilizable handle featuring a capacitive system for light adjustment, which can be operated by the surgeon within the sterile area. A longitudinal guide on the handle allows the surgeon to identify sensor allocation without losing sight of the work area.

The realization of Unica is a testament to sophisticated design and engineering. It combines excellent lighting features with exceptional mechanical characteristics for smooth movement. The entire aluminium lamp body optimizes the LED thermal management and luminous efficacy, maintaining constant illuminance throughout the device's operation without the need for electronic processes. The construction process involves a careful selection of high-quality materials, coded assembly, and meticulous thermal, optical, functional, and safety testing to ensure total reliability.

Technical specifications of Unica include LED light beams that are conveyed into an aspherical lens and projected onto a segmented mirror. This mirror reflects them onto a second smooth-surfaced mirror, which directs them into the surgical field. The reflection passes through a screen with a roughness index designed to stratify and collimate the light beam. The large light emission area and the circular shape of the interruption-free mirrors produce a shadowless effect. The thin and perfectly balanced cupola ensures easy and stable adjustment and cleaning.
